Benzo Addiction Treatment near Indianapolis, Indiana

What Is Benzo Addiction?

Benzo addiction involves dependence on benzodiazepines, medications often prescribed for those suffering with anxiety, insomnia and panic disorders. Common benzo include Clonazapam, Xanax, Valium, and Ativan. Although these commonly prescribed drugs prove to be effective when used correctly, they can oftentimes lead to addiction, particularly when misused or taken long-term. Furthermore, prolonged usage of these substances can cause dangerous withdrawal that can require medical detox and treatment programs.

Seeking treatment for benzo addiction is crucial due to the risk of severe withdrawal symptoms and overdose. At Ladoga Recovery Center, we offer comprehensive, individualized treatment options to help patients regain control of their lives. If you or a loved one is struggling with benzo addiction, we are here to help.

Signs and Symptoms of Benzo Addiction

Benzodiazepine addiction can manifest through a variety of signs and symptoms, indicating a developing dependence on these medications. If you or someone you know is exhibiting the following signs, it may be time to seek help:
If you recognize these signs in yourself or a loved one, reaching out for professional help can be a crucial step toward recovery.

Understanding Benzodiazepine Addiction

Benzodiazepine addiction is complex, often affecting both the mind and body. Many individuals begin using benzos under medical supervision but may find themselves needing larger doses to feel the same effects, leading to misuse and addiction. To understand how addiction can develop, it is helpful to educate oneself as to how benzodiazepines work: Benzodiazepines enhance the calming effects of the neurotransmitter GABA in the brain, leading to tolerance over time. Users may find they need higher doses to achieve the same effect, resulting in physical and psychological dependence.

What is the Benzo Withdrawal and Detox Process?

At Ladoga Recovery Center, our comprehensive treatment approach addresses both the physical and psychological aspects of benzo addiction. Users may experience withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, tremors, and even seizures when attempting to stop or reduce their usage. When one suddenly stops using benzos, it can create dangerous situations that require detox programs overseen by medical professionals. At Ladoga Recovery, we use such medically supervised detox programs to manage withdrawal symptoms, followed by customized therapy and treatment programs that help individuals develop healthier coping mechanisms and regain control over their lives. We will work with you to determine which residential or inpatient treatment programs are needed after detox. With the right care and support, recovery from benzo addiction is possible, and we are here to guide you every step of the way.
